Mount Etna is a piece that feels alive to me. I wanted to capture the raw, unstoppable energy of an eruption—the way lava moves unpredictably, creating something both destructive and beautiful at the same time. Using fluid acrylics, I let the paint flow and mix organically, just like nature does, guiding it but never fully controlling it. The deep blacks represent the cooled volcanic rock, while the fiery reds and molten golds mirror the heat and movement of lava carving its way through the earth.
The gold leaf was a crucial element—it catches the light in different ways, almost like the sun reflecting off fresh lava or the rich minerals found in volcanic landscapes. It adds a sense of depth and contrast, balancing the chaos with something refined and almost ethereal.
